There are lots of ways to fish for trout but one of the most effective ways is to follow the birds as well as the slicks. Trout will make slicks by regurgitation what little fish they have left in their bellies. Slicks sometimes smell like watermelon or fresh cut grass. The reason that trout do this basically is to get a free meal by eating the small bait fish that come in to eat the regurgitation fish.
